The Stars That Usher Evening Rose

"Wan night, the shadow goer, came stepping in." -- Philip James Bailey

Just yesterday I had been telling some people how fast the last week has gone and then today comes along and moves at slower than a snails pace. Of course the day that had to move agonizingly slow had to be a day that I had four classes all 75 minutes long. It couldn't have been the weekend or one of the days I only have one class.

School is pretty much up and down so far depending on the subject. In German the lowest grade I have had so far is a 91. We have had three test in there already in which I have gotten 91, 91 and 92 on respectively. I have gotten 100s on all the HWs in there and all 100s except one 95 on quizzes. So that class I am doing great in so far. Synoptic Meteorology has been up and down as I have gotten grades as low as 60 and as high as 100. I figure I have a B- or a B right now. Thermodynamics and Statics has also been up and down as I have gotten A's on all the homework yet only a 70 on the one test so I figure I have a B- or B in there as well. Now Differential Equations is a different story. As one person who sits behind me put it perfectly saying "Everyday feels like the first day". Most people I have talked who have had the class in the past have said that Diffy Eq. isn't all that bad. So far to this point in the class I would really like to know what they were smoking as it's been just as difficult as Calc. II was. The one quiz we have had in there I got a 10/20 on so I am not off to the greatest start in there.

Fall break is closing in quickly. Fall Break marks the mid point of the semester which means another round of test coming up in about another week. For Fall break instead of going to Cathy's like I have in the past I am instead this time going to head back to Atlanta to see some friends of mine. I will head down there the Friday before Fall break and then return to campus the following Tuesday. For the most part I am looking forward to it as I haven't been in Atlanta (other than for one day last November) in about two years. It will be nice seeing everyone again and getting to hang out like old times with the small except that I will have to stay at one of their places instead of my own.

To think that the schools cafe food couldn't get much worse. Then what do I find when I got dinner last night? Moldy tortillas. Talk about killing an appetite. Can't imagine what else they could do to make it worse. Though I am sure they will find something. Definitly not going to miss the cafe after I graduate next spring.

My brain is finally starting to shift into school mode. Which hopefully means it has switched into blogging mode as well. When my brain is in summer mode the blog tends to take a back seat and I tend to forget about. So now hopefully I should start posting more often.

Today, well yesterday now,was the five year anniversary of the attacks on the Twin Towers and the pentagon, and lets not forget United flight 93. A news reporter mentioned how we do things in fives and tens and she was right not a whole lot was made of the past four anniversaries of 9/11. But, this year things were completely different. Most news stations spent the entire day (and even the History Channel) talking about nothing except 9/11 and what has happened since. Even MSNBC re-played the entire tellecast(from 9/11/01) of the attacks this morning. I was glad to see the media concentrating so much on this anniversary because I have noticed that each year more and more people seem to forget what 9/11 was all about and hopefully some of them watched some of the coverage today was got a reminder. I am sure I am about the zillionth person today to post about the anniversary but there is good reason. Thinking back though its hard to believe its been five years. Where have the years gone, next thing I know we will be remembering the 25th anniversary.

Anyway, not much going on here on my front. Other than the usual school and work anyway. Though over labor day weekend I ran into a friend of mine that I had not seen in five years. His name is Scott, and I was walking around my sisters neighborhood trying to figure out where my niece had gone when a van pulling a trailer drove by. I thought nothing of it until I saw it come back and stop about four doors down from my sisters house. I noticed the passenger in the car and thought to my self "Hey, that looks like the one guy from Scott's band". Next thing I know the drivers door opens and I hear "Kenneth is that you?" and I see Scott climb out. Strangely at the time it didn't seem that strange to me that I had just randomly ran into a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in five years, as it wasn't until later that I actually got a laugh out of it. He was in the neighborhood doing some recording with his band, "Philmont", of which he is the lead singer.

Well that's about all I have this time. Plus it's late now and I have an early class so I am off.
