The Stars That Usher Evening Rose

Yesterday I had one of those moments where I ended up someplace without having any recollection of how I got there. I left the dorm room with the intention of heading down to the laundry room to put my clothes into the dryer. A couple minutes later a women walks out a door snapping me out of whatever trance I must have been in at the time and was surprised found my self not in the laundry room but instead standing in front of the vending machines in Vance Hall (the public safety building). I tried to think back to how I got there but the last thing I could remember was walking out the door of my suite. I had not recollection of making the walk over there. For all I know I could have been teleported there. Attempting not to look weird by just walking out I decided to get me a diet Pepsi while I was in there and then finally made my way to my original destination, the laundry room.

Last evening I went bowling with the BlogAsheville crew and had a good time. It was the first time I had bowled in atleast a year and a half. I was expecting to be pretty rusty and the first frame of my first game lead me to believe that I was. I guttered both balls on the first frame. Surprisingly though for the most part that was the only time I really struggled. I ended up finishing with a 158 that game which was the second highest of everyone for the night. About three frames into my second game my thumb started to go numb and once that happened I started losing the ability to direct the ball to where I wanted it to go so my score for the second game dropped to 110.

Starting either this coming week or the week of March 13th, I will begin doing the weather forecast for WPVM 103.5 here in Asheville on Monday evenings. The Atmospheric Sciences Department at UNCA is the one putting this together with 103.5. There are several of my other co-majors that are doing the other days. I wasn't sure if it was something I wanted to do at first but after I thought about it I decided to do it. I figured it could be fun and potentially would look good on a resume done the road sometime. So anyone here In Asheville who might read my blog start listening for us here in the near future.

I think I am starting to burnout. I haven't been doing as well in school as I was expecting to at this point. I am not giving any less effort than before. It is just that I am having a much harder time this semester staying on task with studying and staying alert in class. My mind seems to be wondering a lot more lately. Only thing I can think of is that mentally I am beginning to burnout. Hopefully that isn't the case because if it is this could be a long second half of the semester. Spring Break is just under a week away so hopefully that week away from school will help me out.

I am beginning to believe that Asheville is cursed. At least in the way of snow. Every time they forecast a big snow event here (atleast in the time I have been here) it never happens. Most of the time we will get some snow but about a 1/4th what they forecast. Same thing happened this weekend. They were forecasting up to 8 inches of snow here Friday night into Saturday. Guess how much we got? Try zero. What fell was all rain and very little rain fell at that, I think the airport reported something like 0.20 inches of rain over that time. It is not the forecasters fault that they get it wrong. All their models and the conditions were setting up perfect but something always comes along a fucks things up. Like this last time the Upper Level trough which was supposed to interact with the low ended up lagging behind therefore the low didn't intensify until it was past us. So therefore the cold air wasn't in place like it should have been and the moisture wasn't there like it should have been therefore all we got was just a small amount of rain. But, since the upper level trough was lagging behind once it did come though here it lead to an enhancing of the northwest flow event which did give us here on campus about a total of 2 to 2 and half inches of snow between Saturday evening and Monday morning.

This gave start to a great beginning of the week. Because of the snow we did get it caused the cancellation of classes on Monday. Then on Monday afternoon I got an e-mail from my Physics professor telling us that he is canceling labs and class for the rest of the week because he father had passed away over the weekend so he was leaving to go to the funeral and spend time with his family. Though that isn't the way I like to have classes cancelled it still was a nice addition to the beginning of the week. Then to top it off the iPod got here on Monday which was two days earlier than planned. So overall had a good start to the week. Though because of all that next week will suck since we will have classes on Monday (well maybe might have another winter system come in this weekend into Monday) and Physics classes will resume as normal so that means no more sleeping in. Spring Break is just over two weeks away though. Hard to believe still feels like its maybe the second week of the semester. I am not complaining though because unlike last Spring I am actually ready for this year to end.

My 23rd Birthday was a week ago. Overall it was a good day. Even at one point I locked myself out of the suite and just as I got to the front door and was going to knock to see if anyone was there to let me in an RA just happened to be walking by and asked me if I was locked out. I told her I was and she let me in. Plus also on that day I got all my financial aid crap figured out and have this semester paid for. Other than that though I didn't do much as I had a lot of other things I had to get done. My parents and my sisters are going in together to get me an iPod. The main reason I want one is for use in the car so I don't have to be constantly changing CDs anymore and will just have all my music on one thing. I wont be one of those people who carry theirs to class or every they go.

This week is going to be hell I have 3 test one of which is this afternoon. My other two are on Thursday (Calc. III) and Friday (Physics II). So I will be spending just about the rest of the week studying for those. Then Friday I am going to go down to Cathy's place to celebrate my birthday as well as Hers (2/16) and Jeralyn's (2/14) .

Spring break is less than a Month away and I am already ready for the break. Matt called me last night and told me his boss is going to give him some time off and asked him when he wanted to use it and Matt told him the first weekend in March which just happens to match up with the start of my Spring Break. So he is hoping to be able to come up to Charlotte that weekend and hang out. So if he comes that will be cool, I will probably give Tim a call to see what he is free and see if we can maybe met up with him that weekend. Though since Matt refuses to drink that could limit the amount of possibilities. We shall see though. That's about it for me though, not a whole hell of a lot going on with me other than all this school work. Pretty boring I know.
