The Stars That Usher Evening Rose

Well all eyes are on Hurricane Frances in the Atlantic. At this time it looks as if it might be headed straight for Orlando, where if you remember correctly my parents have two homes. The two houses survived Hurricane Charley but if they take a direct hit from Hurricane Frances they will not survive it. So we have fingers crossed that Hurricane Frances will decided miss the Orlando area. It should make landfall sometime on Saturday. I will keep everyone updated on this situtation as I learn things.

I was going to wait till This weekend to by Nascar Chase For The Cup 2005 till this weekend but my nephew decided that he wanted me to get it earlier (he was only reason I was waiting till this weekend because I had promised him we would go get it together) so that way when he got it I could help him better with it. So since the games release date was August 31, I set out to go get it today. First I went to Wal-Mart but they didn't have it in stock yet. So I then went to Best Buy and they did not have it in stock yet either, they told me to try the mall. So I went to the mall and went to GameStop and they did not have it in stock and they told me that they had been confused to because even though the release date was today it wouldn't be instores until tomorrow. Therefore, I basically drove around from store to store for absolutely nothing. Oh well, I will go just have back again tomorrow and they better have it this time.

The joys of living in on campus housing. This one being last night when more than likely some jackass decided it would be funny to pull the fire alarm at 4:40am. Woke me and probably over half the building up and we had to stand outside for 20 minutes before letting us back in. Took me till 6:30am to fall back to sleep.

Michael was going to come up here this weekend then yesterday decided not to because he wanted to go home and get a mattress which he has since changed his mind again and is not going to go get the mattress, go figure. Next weekend, Labor Day weekend, I am going to Charlotte to stay at my sisters house and while there I plan to buy Nascar Thunder 2005 for the PS2 since it comes out this week.

As for school not a whole lot new going on there. We get our permanent schedules for work this weekend and that starts on Monday. Hopefully they don't have me scheduled next weekend or else I will have to go through the hard time of trying to find someone to work for me.

Tonight I went to see the movie "The Village". I had heard ahead of time from several people that they did not like the movie. But, I have been wanting to see it so I decided to go see it anyway, and I would have to disagree with those people as I thought the movie was pretty good. One reason people might not like it is because its not like M. Night's other movies at all. It doesn't have that surprise ending the only moment of surprise in the movie is in the middle. Overall though I thought the movie was really good and I would recommend it.

My brain really needs to switch gears because it is still stuck in summer mode. In class even though I am paying attention it is almost like it goes in one ear and out the other as I never really contemplate what the teacher is talking about. And I am finally starting to run into some people I know up here like Charlie, Landon, Kevin, and Jenny. The kind of fucked up thing is I kind of miss having Matt around even though he annoyed the hell out of me on countless occasions, because I would have someone to drag to the store with me instead of mostly going by myself.

Anyway I would also like to wish Michael a happy birthday as he turns 21 today. Its about time to because now he can help pay.

Had another one of those times where you hear just part of a groups conversation that leaves you wondering "what the hell". Today as I made my way to dinner I pass the elevators here in the dorm building and I hear one girl say "I am just a baby dike" and then another girl says "that girl is just 13 years old" and then the first girl says again "I am still a baby dike" and then the elevator doors closed. I have no idea what they were talking about and not to sure I would want to know what they were talking about.

As for classes they started this past Wednesday I have had all my classes now except for my Java class which just meets on Mondays. Oh and also I finished Intensity and started Sole Survivor yesterday.

Well I got the damage report from my mom yesterday and we seemed to be lucky. My Uncle's house seem to be untouched and my parents house had the screen porch and storage shed damaged but the house itself seemed to be fine. My parents were planning to take off a chunk of the porch anyway to build the new room so mother nature just did the demolition part for them.

As for my car it looks like I might have to have my radiator replaced so I am probably going to wait till I am back in Atlanta in October to get it fixed, until then I just have to stay under 70mph so I don't overheat.

Yesterday my parents new home was hit by Hurricane Charley in Orlando. They have been trying to get in contact with someone in Orlando all morning to find out anything about how their house and the neighborhood faired. But all the phone lines are down and they can't get through to anyone. My mom who is in Miami right now is going to go up to Orlando with my Cousin Chris today and try to get to the house. If you remember correctly my parents new home and my Uncle's old home are both mobile homes so they are not expecting it to be a pretty site once they get there. I will keep you updated if I hear anything, but for now its off to work.

The last two days have been pretty busy days. Yesterday I had training from 9am-5pm with a lunch break in the middle. The whole day everyone pretty much got to know each other, we made a tour of the building since we are the first group to work in it, and we talked about how certain things could be run. Today I had training again from 9am-4pm this time we went over safety procedures, did some exercises to see how we work together as a group, went to our positions and made of list of things we would need or would like to have at our desk or in my groups case in the game room, then we made up our schedules. For lunch our bosses took us to an Asian Buffet place here in town its was decent, I saw the bill of $238 and was glad it wasn't me paying it. Had dinner at 6pm with the rest of the people that I work with at the Highsmith Center along with the RAs and Summit Leaders (people that help the freshman). I sat down with 5 other of my co-workers and we talked till 7:30pm and were the last ones to leave the food court. My first day of work will be Saturday from 12-2pm. Tomorrow I have to try and get my car fixed so it will stop overheating.

Found out my new roommates name is Matthew (RA put his name on the door) which means I got rid of Matt just to get another Matt. On my hall there will be 16 girls and only 8 guys, can't complain about the ratio.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004

I am now officially up at school. I arrived here around 4:30 this afternoon. A lot of changes here on campus main thing being the new Highsmith Center is completed which is the whole reason I am up here a week early because I will be working at the Highsmith Center. I have training for most of the day tomorrow and Thursday. On the way up here my car started overheating on two different occasions so I am going to call around and take it to a radiator place somewhere here in Asheville to get the problem fixed on Friday when I hopefully will have some free time.

Two days ago I finished reading Seize The Night by Dean Koontz which was exceptionally good and I have started reading Intensity which I know there was a TV movie made based off the book. I am already 174 pages into the book and so far the title "Intensity" is a perfect fit for the book.

Today I almost bought a new car. You are probably wondering why would I think about doing that when I have a Mercedes now. Well I would think about doing it when it is a some what newer and much nicer Mercedes than I have now. As in this Mercedes right here, and I don't mean one that looks just like that one, I mean that exact car pictured there. As anyone knows my Mercedes is a 1991 300E Mercedes which is the middle of the line for the 300 Series for Mercedes. Well the S320 is the top of the line in the 300 Series for Mercedes so I would have been making a step up by going to that car. It is still a possibility that I might still get it but not a big one, main reason being that money doesn't grow on trees.

As for the rest of the vacation that we took. Jeralyn and her crew left around noon on Monday and we left Orlando Monday afternoon around 4:30pm and arrived in Tallahassee around 9:30pm were we checked into our hotel and hit the sack. The next day my dad went to his meeting thing that he had to go to (the whole reason for going to Tallahassee). While he was at his meeting Cathy and my Mom went out shopping. William, Jacqueline and I stayed behind and William and I play Texas-hold-em poker and I won all the chips both times. The later I was laying on the bed and Jacqueline climbed on top of me and started tickling me which to try to get her off I rolled over forgetting how close I was to the end of the bed so we both went tumbling off and I banged the crap out of my knee on the dresser and even now a few weeks later it is still a little sore. That Night once everyone was back Cathy, William, and I played poker again. I won the first time and Cathy won the second time. Then it was off to bed again. The next morning, July 21st, we got up and packed up everything and my parents went to a furniture store there that they like and we were there till about 12:30pm. We finally left there and began the trip home. We arrived back in Atlanta around 6:30pm were I stopped in Subway to see if I worked at all the next week and I didn't. So since I didn't work I agreed to go back to Charlotte with Cathy and help her get a head start on moving into her new home before everyone else got there. We left Atlanta around 7:30pm and at Exit 63 in South Carolina Cathy got pulled over for failure to use her blinker 4 times, though the cop also caught her doing 16 MPH over the speed limit he left her off with just a warning. We finally reached Charlotte around Midnight and went straight to bed. Over the next two days she and I took some loads of boxes and stuff over to her new home which was a 40 minute drive from Apartment to new home in a car with no air conditioning and 90+ degree tempatures outside so yeah it sucked. Friday night, July 23rd, my parents and the kids got in so they could help move over the weekend. Saturday was the big moving day Me, Mom, Dad, William, Jacqueline, Cathy, and Ken (A friend of Cathy's) got all the little stuff moved out while the Movers moved all her big stuff. All toll, not including the movers we made 4 trips back and forth, let me rephrase that I made 4 trips back and forth the only one to make that many trips that day. We got about 80% of the stuff out that day. So Sunday morning my dad and I went back over to the Apartment to pick up the last of the stuff, were Jeralyn and Cathy had already gone to pick up two loads of the stuff left from the other day. Luckily it only took the one trip. Once we got everything in Cathy's new home my Mom, Dad, and I finally got to leave back for home. We left around 4:30pm and arrived home around 9pm and man was I glad to be home.

Since getting back I haven't done much other than work once, get my blood taken to run more test on my liver just to make sure everything is ok. Go for the results tomorrow morning. Took my car to get it worked on and like I already mentioned saw the other one. Also been getting ready for school as I leave in 5 days on August 10th. Hard to believe its already that time again.
